Most modern militaries use camouflage uniforms to help soldiers blend into the environment. A special unit of the French army was the first to use camouflage uniforms in 1915. In fact, 'camouflage' comes from the French verb meaning 'to make up for the stage'.

In some regions of Japan, traffic lights are red, yellow and blue instead of green. This is due to the Japanese language where for centuries, the same word, “ao”, was used to describe blue and green. A word for green has evolved later, but Japanese traffic law still uses the archaic term.
