The Sullivan Island Lighthouse in Charleston, SC is the most powerful lighthouse in the Western Hemisphere. It originally had 28 million candelas, but the light was too strong, and the power was lowered to 1.2 million candelas. Even with this change, light beaming out of this lighthouse can be seen over 26 nautical miles away!

The word ‘hologram’ comes from two Greek words. ‘Holo’ which means whole and ‘gamma’ which means message. Hungarian engineer and physicist, Dennis Gabor, came up with the idea of holograms in 1947 and was later awarded the Nobel Prize in 1971 for the invention.
