The word ‘hologram’ comes from two Greek words. ‘Holo’ which means whole and ‘gamma’ which means message. Hungarian engineer and physicist, Dennis Gabor, came up with the idea of holograms in 1947 and was later awarded the Nobel Prize in 1971 for the invention.

We don’t want to upset anybody, but the Star Wars lightsaber duel doesn’t work in reality. Assuming the sword is made of light, it cannot have a shadow. But of course, in the movie we can sometimes see the lightsaber’s shadow. This is another reason why learning physics from sci-fi movies is not the best idea.
