Have you ever heard of Anna Maria van Schurman? She was a Dutch artist who lived in the 17th century. Her incredible learning abilities and outspokenness gained her admission to the University of Utrecht – she was the first woman ever to study at a Dutch university. Anna Maria spoke 14 languages and wrote “The Learned Maid”, a defence of female education.

Women are able to perceive reds and oranges better than men. The ability to see red is attached to the X chromosome and women have two X chromosomes, allowing them to perceive the red-orange spectrum better.
