The Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. The Assembly Room was loaned out for the meetings of the Second Continental Congress and is where the Declaration of Independence was debated. The room has since been restored to the way it was in the 1770s and serves as a museum!

Onomatopoeic words can result in some interesting translations. Popular breakfast cereal Rice Krispies slogan ‘snap, crackle and pop’ in German became ‘Knisper! Knasper! Knusper!’ In France meanwhile its ‘Cric! Crac! Croc!’ and the Spanish say ‘Cris! Cras! Cros!’. Which one is your favorite?

Between the 1590s and 1660s, the optical microscope was developed by Zacharias, Hans Jensen and Anton van Leeuwenhowek, among others. Anton van Leeuwenhoek used the simple compound microscope to observe bacteria in droplets of water!
