As mentioned earlier, there are many different Halloween traditions around the globe. Some involve candy, and some others involve...peeling apples. In Scotland, there is an old tradition of apple peeling at Halloween. You take an apple and peel off the skin in one piece. This piece is then thrown over the shoulder – the letter it resembles is the initial of your future spouse!

It is believed that a language, or a dialect, goes extinct every two weeks. There are more than 230 completely extinct languages and 2,400 of the world’s languages are considered to be in danger of going extinct. Chinese is the most spoken language in the world and has over 50,000 characters!

Much of the folklore around leprechauns depicts humans trying to catch them and take their treasure. A description of leprechauns from 1888 said that the best time to catch one was while he mended his shoes, which he had to do regularly from running around all the time.
