If you have caught a cold, you can try and mend it with medicine – or simply enjoy a bowl of chicken soup. Studies have found that the savoury concoction has genuine health benefits. It’s hardly breaking news, though – even the ancient Greeks used chicken soup as a remedy for cold.

Mount Rushmore went through several changes. In one version of the monument, words were to be etched into the rock face, words that would briefly describe the history of the United States, highlighting nine important events between 1776 and 1906. But due to funding, and issues over wording, this plan was ultimately scrapped!

Spanish friars helped spread chocolate to various monasteries in Europe. If it wasn’t for these guys, chocolate may not have spread as far and wide as it has today. Imagine what kind of world that would be? A sad one indeed!
