Dominoes date back to the 12th century! It was played in China during the Yuan Dynasty and was referred to as 'pupai'! Much later, in the early 18th century, the game began appearing in Europe and, according to many scholars, spread when Italian missionaries brought the game back home with them.

The original script of the film was a bit different. In this early version, Scar was unrelated to Simba. Instead, he was written as a lone lion who was the leader of a pack of ferocious baboons. Timon and Pumbaa were also friends with Simba from the start and Rafiki was a cheetah.

An unlikely friendship was forged between Ireland and the American Choctaw Indian Tribe, when the latter sent the former money during the famine. This was despite the fact that the tribe had just been forced to walk the Trail of Tears. You’ll find a monument of appreciation to the tribe in County Cork.
