Prior to the release of the first Sonic game, Sega was desperately searching for a mascot that could rival the appeal of Nintendo’s jumping plumber. Plenty of ideas were presented to Sega’s top dogs, one of them being a very early (and very different) version of Sonic. This proposed mascot was actually a rabbit that could grasp at things with his paws and fight using his own ears! How cute.

Bingo cards were used by players from Germany in the 1800s. Surprisingly, they didn’t use them for gaming but they used them as educational tools for students to learn multiplication in maths.
