In some regions of Japan, traffic lights are red, yellow and blue instead of green. This is due to the Japanese language where for centuries, the same word, “ao”, was used to describe blue and green. A word for green has evolved later, but Japanese traffic law still uses the archaic term.

To find the temperature when both are equal, we use an old algebra trick and just set ºF = ºC and solve one of the equations. So the temperature when both the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales are the same is -40 degrees.
