The grandfather of modern computers was a mechanical analog computer system which weighed an incredible 27 tons and took up more than 1700 square feet! It was first put to work in 1945 and was capable of being programmed to solve large numerical math problems. Obviously the first research performed on this machine was for military purposes.

Birds get up to all sorts. Cardinal birds like to cover themselves in crushed or living ants, and scientists can’t figure out why. Budgies, meanwhile, infect each other with their yawns as humans do, whilst ravens know how to mimic human speech and sounds.
