Charles Darrow developed Monopoly in 1933. When he sold the game to Parker Brothers, the cards were handwritten, and the houses were made from wooden molding scraps. Darrow’s nieces suggested that metal charms from charm bracelets be used for the pieces.

The board game Sorry! is a westernized version of the Indian game Pachisi, which goes back to at least the 16th century! The goal of the game is to impede the progress of your opponents. The earliest version of the modern game was trademarked in 1929.

The earliest microscopes were called flea glasses because they were predominantly used to observe small insects such as fleas! These microscopes were simple in construction, using different shapes and sizes of glass with low power (6x to 10x). They were invented by the Romans.
