When author Ian Fleming was trying to find a name for his new character, he came across the book “Birds of the West Indies”, written by ornithologist James Bond. Fleming deemed the name perfect, because it was the dullest one he had ever heard, and he considered 007 extremely uninteresting.

The strict American Blue Laws prevented vendors from being able to sell ice cream sodas on Sundays – they invented the even more indulgent ice cream sundae to circumvent the rules! A traditional ice cream sundae is vanilla ice cream topped with syrup, whipped cream and a cherry.

Prior to the release of the first Sonic game, Sega was desperately searching for a mascot that could rival the appeal of Nintendo’s jumping plumber. Plenty of ideas were presented to Sega’s top dogs, one of them being a very early (and very different) version of Sonic. This proposed mascot was actually a rabbit that could grasp at things with his paws and fight using his own ears! How cute.
