Animal Eyes

Lions have incredible eyes. Cubs are born blind and begin to open their eyes three days after birth. The young lion’s vulnerability might be a reason why lionesses give birth in isolation. The eyes of lions are also twice as large as human eyes and have a reflective coat that deflects light at night, which makes their sight eight times better than humans!

Turkeys have a lot of natural predators because they are just too darn tasty! What better way to seek protection than making themselves inconveniently accessible? When the sun begins to fizzle low against the horizon, the turkey flies up, up, up – into the trees. They fly up to a low branch and then hop clumsily upwards, branch by branch.

In Singapore, there is a traditional day called ‘Zhong Yuan Jie’ usually during August. People throng the streets offering up money and burning joss sticks in tribute to spirits. There’s also a superstition that it is a bad time to get married or buy a house.
