Hundreds of years ago, Robert Hooke published a book called Micrographia that included hand-drawn images of samples observed under a microscope! Hooke, who we mentioned in a previous fact, is often credited as the discoverer of cells, after studying cork under the microscope.

When you think of Hawaii, your mind might immediately jump to scenes of white sand beaches. However, the state’s diverse climate might surprise you. There are tropical zones as well as hot deserts and even periglacial ice climates! Hawaii has 10 of the world’s 14 climate zones!

It is believed that a language, or a dialect, goes extinct every two weeks. There are more than 230 completely extinct languages and 2,400 of the world’s languages are considered to be in danger of going extinct. Chinese is the most spoken language in the world and has over 50,000 characters!
