Animal Eyes

Gippsland, in south-east Australia, is home to the giant Gippsland earthworm. They can reach up to 3 meters in length and 2 centimeters in diameter. They can also expand and contract their bodies, making them appear much larger. They weigh around 200 grams.

Everything and everyone has a shadow, but its shape depends on the angle at which the light arrives. Sometimes, however, a shadow seems to have a life of its own and displays something completely different than we would expect. For example, sometimes a dog's menacing shadow is much scarier than the dog itself?

The mayoral race in Estancia, New Mexico is rather unusual. Or at least its conclusion can be. If there is a tie in votes – which has happened on 3 separate occasions – the two candidates must engage in a game of cards to decide the winner. A strange kind of democracy for sure.
