Animal Eyes

Natural light is the lifeblood of living things: the amount that reaches us has a direct impact on our physical and mental well-being. In addition to genetic factors, the sunlight is what regulates the sleep cycles of all living things. Several adverse consequences of cycle failure have been identified.

You’ve seen fireflies and heard of anglerfish, but could you have imagined that humans are bio-luminescent, too? Certain metabolic reactions cause us to glow. Sadly, though, our eyes would have to be 1000 times more sensitive to register our natural shine.

Bob Barker, the show’s host in 1987, went prematurely grey almost overnight! Actually, two shows aired two days in a row: one was before he went grey, and the other, when he turned grey. A fellow fan wrote into the show saying: ‘Bob, you must have had one hell of a night.’
