The Caspian Sea is the world’s largest enclosed inland body of water. Its total surface area is a staggering 371,000 square kilometers. It contains 78,200 cubic km of water and is also the 3rd deepest lake in the world, reaching depths of 1,025 m below surface! Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Azerbaijan surround the basin of the lake.

Fall colors are caused by the amount of sugar in leaves. The more red in the leaf, the more sugar the leaf is storing. This is why Maple trees are so amazing, whereas Evergreens don’t change colors because their leaves have a thick wax covering that protects the chlorophyll in the leaves themselves.

The lychee was first cultivated in southern China, and was a popular delicacy in the Chinese Imperial Court. It made this impression on a European traveler in 1585: “They haue a kinde of plummes, that they doo call lechias, that are of an exceeding gallant tast, and neuer hurteth any body, although they shoulde eate a great number of them.”
