French poet Arthur Rimbaud wrote all of his poetry as a teenager. He then decided to give up creative writing altogether aged 19. Despite being so young, he produced some of the best poetry of the 19th century.

Furano City in Hokkaido, Japan, celebrates its geographical location as the “bellybutton” of the Hokkaido region with the Bellybutton Festival. The Hokkai Bellybutton dance has participants painting faces on the bellybuttons and dancing.

Columbus didn’t actually discover America. Viking explorer, Leif Eriksson, arrived there 500 years earlier. In addition, it’s a misconception that Columbus ever set foot on what today is the United States. He only visited – and raided – the Bahamas, the Antilles and Honduras. Never did he realise that he had reached a new continent.
