It seems that even plants enjoy good tunes. Scientists in South Korea found that playing music, especially classical music, to plants helps them grow faster. Though it’s not entirely clear why the plants grow faster, scientists believe that sound waves may stimulate growth factors.

For approximately 200 years, microscope technology remained relatively unchanged. In the 1850s, however, Carl Zeiss, a German engineer, developed improvements for the device! Joseph Jackson Lister also helped eliminate the unequal bending of light hitting the microscope lens, leading to further improvements!

When women in Russia were protesting World War I on Women’s Day in 1917 and went on strike, Czar Nicholas II ordered the military to put an end to this. But the women wouldn’t stand down. Days later, the Czar had to abdicate and women were granted suffrage.
