Hundreds of years ago, Robert Hooke published a book called Micrographia that included hand-drawn images of samples observed under a microscope! Hooke, who we mentioned in a previous fact, is often credited as the discoverer of cells, after studying cork under the microscope.

Both male and female turkeys purr, whistle, cackle, and yelp, but the most recognizable sound – the glorious gobble – is only produced by males. The gobble is a male turkey’s version of a lion’s roar, announcing his presence and warning rivals to stay clear. Sometimes, in order to really get his message across, a male turkey will gobble from the top of a tree.

Dog noses are wet to better help them absorb scent chemicals. A special mucus is secreted to help them absorb these special chemicals. Once the chemicals are on the nose, dogs lick them so that they can sample them and understand what it is that they're smelling!
