You probably know that water boils at a temperature of 100 °C (212 °F) – but this is only half true. The boiling point of water depends on barometric pressure, so these values only apply if you put the kettle on at sea level. At the top of Mt Everest, water will begin to boil at a mere 68 °C (154 °F)!
