Hundreds of years ago, Robert Hooke published a book called Micrographia that included hand-drawn images of samples observed under a microscope! Hooke, who we mentioned in a previous fact, is often credited as the discoverer of cells, after studying cork under the microscope.

Hummingbirds are small. Bee Hummingbirds are so small that they’re sometimes mistaken for insects (hence the name)! They’re the smallest bird in the world and are two and a quarter inches long and weigh less than a dime.
