London cab drivers have to study street names and local maps for several years to pass exams which require them to drive through London without a navigator or map. They are also expected to memorize street names, landmarks and popular places. Only then, are they licensed to get behind the wheel of one of the world’s most iconic taxis. Here sat-navs are a beacon of shame; cabbies are expected to learn around 320 popular routes through 25,000 streets, memorizing 20,000 landmarks and popular spots off by heart, to navigate London’s neighborhoods map-free.

When you peer through a microscope, you are not looking directly at a specimen underneath but rather at an image of the specimen that is being projected up by the lenses to a place below the eyepiece!
