In 1917, when xenophobia was a considerable problem in the United States, Komako Kimura marched down Fifth Avenue. Kimura was a Japanese suffragist and marched stalwartly for the right for women to vote. In Japan, her writing on women’s rights was frequently quashed and she was even banned from having meetings in public places.

The flag of America that we’re familiar with today is the longest-running unmodified version the US has had – and it’s gone through a total of 26 iterations! The Caspian Sea is the world’s largest enclosed inland body of water. Its total surface area is a staggering 371,000 square kilometers. It contains 78,200 cubic km of water and is also the 3rd deepest lake in the world, reaching depths of 1,025 m below surface! Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Azerbaijan surround the basin of the lake.
