The Great Emu War in Australia was a wildlife management program that escalated to a military operation. Emus were multiplying at alarming rates and destroying valuable crops. Crop destruction continued despite efforts, and humans lost the emu war.

The belief that a four-leaf clover brings good luck dates back to at least the 17th century. The earliest mention is believed to be in a 1640 play by Sir John Melton. He mentions that keeping a four-leaf clover in the garden is good for protecting against a skin condition called Purpura.

Autumn is the time for Halloween and people celebrate it in many different ways around the globe. Some involve candy, and some others involve...peeling apples. In Scotland, there is an old tradition of apple peeling at Halloween. You take an apple and peel off the skin in one piece. This piece is then thrown over the shoulder – the letter it resembles is the initial of your future spouse!
