Fictional icon James Bond was named after an ornithologist with the same name. Author Ian Fleming took the name from a birdwatching book because he wanted the dangerous superspy to have a name that was “as mundane as possible.”

Hummingbirds are small. Bee Hummingbirds are so small that they’re sometimes mistaken for insects (hence the name)! They’re the smallest bird in the world and are two and a quarter inches long and weigh less than a dime.
