Crowdie is a special Scottish cheese called ‘gruth’ in Gaelic. The Vikings were the first to start making it and these traditional methods are still used in Scotland. A field of cows once escaped and ate wild garlic causing the taste of their milk to change – it is now called ‘garlic crowdie’!
