Donald Lau is considered the father of fortune cookies because he wrote the fortunes within for 30 years. He was hired at the company (called Wanton Foods) because he was employee who spoke the best English at the time. The company was known for producing 4.5 million cookies a day.

Tetley is the biggest tea company in the United Kingdom and Canada. The founders were the Tetley brothers who got their start by selling salt before later selling tea as well. They had so much success with the drink that they changed their offerings and called themselves "Joseph Tetley & Co."
