Alex Trebek’s real name isn’t Alex. It’s George. However, Alexander is his middle name, so don’t fret. Here’s another interesting fact about the game show host - he’s not American. Trebek is actually from Canada! He was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1940.

The expression “Taking the bull by its horns” has its roots in Greek mythology. It was one of the 12 labors Hercules had to carry out. By seizing the horns of a raging bull, he saved the city of Crete.

‘The Life of Pi’, a novel written by Canadian author Yann Martel, was rejected by more than five publication houses before it was finally accepted. In 2001, it was finally published and won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction. It also won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature in Best Adult Fiction. Over ten million copies of the novel have been sold worldwide.
