Donald Lau is considered the father of fortune cookies because he wrote the fortunes within for 30 years. He was hired at the company (called Wanton Foods) because he was employee who spoke the best English at the time. The company was known for producing 4.5 million cookies a day.

For approximately 200 years, microscope technology remained relatively unchanged. In the 1850s, however, Carl Zeiss, a German engineer, developed improvements for the device! Joseph Jackson Lister also helped eliminate the unequal bending of light hitting the microscope lens, leading to further improvements!

Although the humble turkey is often thought of as traditional Christmas fare, the highest number of turkeys eaten in one day is on Thanksgiving. Around 88% of Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day – not a great one for the vegetarians!
