On November 12, 1833, Alabama was witness to the magnificent Leonid Meteor Shower. The shower was so intense, some residents feared the end of the world. In many stories about Ray County where it was observed, it is referred to as "the night the stars fell."

Turkeys, though mostly sighted on the ground, can fly. In fact, wild turkeys can reach speeds of up to 55 mph when they fly. Domesticated turkeys, on the other hand, cannot reach these blistering speeds. They have been bred to be quite hefty and not very aerodynamic.
