During the 70s, it was not unusual for artists to select their band name out of thin air. The Commodores got theirs by randomly selecting from the dictionary, AC/DC from a sewing machine, and Led Zeppelin chose theirs as a joke. “Led Zeppelin” came about when Keith Moon of “The Who” joked that the band would go down like a lead balloon.
