Take note of the carton the next time you buy eggs: the package should come with a sell by date rather than an expiration date. The eggs should stay edible for a good several weeks after that date, so don’t throw them out unnecessarily. If you’re not sure about them, just give them the smell test after cracking them. Although a dog’s main form cooling down on a hot day is by panting, dog’s do have sweat glands on their paws. Occasionally when bacteria has built from the sweat, the dog’s paw can give off a potent odor called “Frito Foot”, as it has been known to resemble the scent of corn.

A polydactyl cat has a genetic abnormality which gives it extra toes. The writer Ernest Hemingway was a big fan of these cats and 45 of them still live in his home in Key West. They are sometimes called ‘Hemingway cats’!
